Toyota GR Yaris 1.6 Turbo reflash/remap tuned

Hello world!

Today it’s about time we let the world see that I also touch Toyota! (Haha!)
I tuned too many Honda OBD2 stock ecus and it got most people thinking that I only do tuning for Honda reflash. But don’t you worry! I will do what I have to do!

I’m at Gettuned Tuning Service in Bangkok, Thailand today. He has this car ready for me to do the ECU reprogramming and calibration, and we will do the tuning together.

We are doing reflash tune for this beauty, the turbocharged 3cylinder 1.6 liter GR Yaris beautifully made by Toyota. This thing is all time permanent four-wheel-drive, equipped with 6-speed manual tranmission, and will drive the soul out of you!

GR stands for Gazoo Racing, which is the current racing department of Toyota official. GXPA16 being the chassis code for this GR Yaris, equipped with the Turbocharged 3-cylinder G16E-GTS 1.6L/1,618cc engine and EA67F 6-speed manual transmission, with GR-Four permanent four-wheel-drive system.

Let’s get to the tuning part!

One thing about it is that the tune has to be done using bench method with direct connection to the ecu pinouts. We will have to access the flash memory modules inside both processors, then edit both flash memories in WinOLS, and flash them back to the ecu, as seen in this photo.

Using Thai E20 91oct (95ron) pump gas, which is our regular fuel, we made 315ps and 42.7Kgm, which is +47ps and +45Nm gain over stock tune!

The car only has BMC intake air filter and exhaust mufflers. Which is a remarkable gain with controllable manifold air temperature within cosiderable ignition timing range. Boost is electronically controlled by the ecu, which we reprogrammed it to do 1.7bar (24-25psi) of boost in the mid range and gradually drop down to 1.35bar (19-20psi) of boost at high rpm.

The car is absolute fun to drive and ride.

Toyota did great job with the car and the engine

What a fun day!

Hope this is enjoyable for Toyota fans and all fellow petrolheads!

I appreciate all the supports y’all have been giving to XGN Performance all this time! It means a lot!

Thank you for reading and I’ll see you again next time!
